Upgrading brings in whole lot of new features & ease but problems also. One issue that you may face after installing Office 2007, that you dont have English as a choice of language in the spell checker of Outlook Express and potentially in some other programs as well.

This is beacuse Office 2007 is replacing the v.3 English Proofing Tools that shipped in prior versions of Office with a new version (v.6). There are a number of changes in this new version, but the one that is causing this problem is that Outlook Express doesnt understand the new English Proofing Tools.

This is a problem because Outlook Express has never shipped with its own proofing tools but has used the ones shipped by Office. To resolve this issue:

1. You need to Download a free spell check. You can get one on the following link: download link here

2. Another workaround for this problem is to install the English dictionary from Office 2003 (or Office XP). There should be no need to install all of Office just the dictionary.

The English Proofing Tools can be found in the Custom Install tree under Office Shared FeaturesProofing ToolsEnglish.Other scenarios to avoid this issue are:
- Upgrade from Office 2003 or earlier to Office 2007, if you dont manually uninstall the earlier version of Office this issue will not occur.
- Configuration in which Office 2003 (or earlier) has not been removed.

If you are upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista you might get Error 5 on start up or while accessing Program updates. Strangely, this error is not related to Windows Update but is a result of some third party application software.

However, there is an easy resolution to this issue:
1. Click Pearl, type Run in Instant Search to access Run command window.
2. Type
“C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\ISUSPM.EXE” -bootstrap.
3. Click OK.
4. Restart system.
Above steps should take care of this dreaded error.

Internet Explorer 7 cool and easy as compared to Internet Explorer 6. But is some cases IE7 gives more errors than ease of use, which tends us to switch back to previous sable good old friend IE6.

As any wise man would say, before you do anything backup your important data. Also, make sure you have access to download or already downloaded copy of Internet explorer 6. Also it is a good idea to make a restore point using system restore.

- Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore
- Make sure that ‘Create a restore point’ is selected, then press Next
- Type in a name, for instance “Before IE7 Removal.” Then click Create
- Click Close to complete
Download links for Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7

To uninstall IE 7 to return to IE 6 on Windows XP
1. Click “Start,” and then click “Control Panel.”
2. Click “Add or Remove Programs.”
3. Check “Show Updates” at the top of the dialog box.
4. Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click “Change/Remove.”
(If you are running Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview - March 20 or later - it is not necessary to check “Show Updates.”)

You are really happy with new Windows Vista. But this happiness looses shine when your favourite program/application does not work/install in Windows Vista due to compatibility issues.

Well there is a work around to this issue, which can help you make a specific program compatibile with Windows Vista. This is possible using feature called Compatibility Mode in Windows Vista.

Here is what you need to do:

- Right click on the program (exe/install file) that is not installing.
- Click on properties option.
- Then click on Compatibility tab
- Click on Windows XP or previous version as the options you get
- Click on next and follow on screen instrcution.
So, above is the simple procedure to solve not so simple issue. I certainly love Windows Vista now!

Got a rar zip file, you need a specific extractor, similar is the case for other zip files. Sometimes we even skip downloading a zip archive (not happy!) as one has to install related extractor software. Cheer up and here is a good solution.

One zip software that will help you extract files from almost any zip archive is Universal Extractor. It supports number of zip formats including popular ones: ace archive, arj, rar, gzip, tar and zip archives.

Besides this you can also use it for Windows Installer (.msi) package files and for even firefox update files. On functionality when you right click on a archive file, it will give options: extract files, extract files in same directory, extract files in a sub-directory, sounds familiar right?
This should work fine on your windows based system and can be downloaded here.
