Eve imagined browsing a website without click of a mouse or stroking a key. Well, this could be true in near future. A talking website: WhiteCaneLabel.org is being developed.
This website will help blind people pick and buy trendy clothing that is fitted with braille tags and then delivered to their doorstep. Nice move to en-power independent lifestyle for visually impaired.
Two American students of The Rochester Institute of Technology are behind this concept, after they found difficulties for blind people in picking an outfit to wear and having to rely on family and friends for it.
Officially site echoes same sentiments for this project… White Cane Label is an advocate designed to empower an independent lifestyle and to promote better services for the blind and visually impaired community.
We are committed to creating an interactive website, which will include clothing and accessories from casual sportswear to fine apparel to satisfy the blind and visually impaired community’s fashion needs.
White Cane Label exists to create independence, educate society, and create awareness to the needs of this community.
Website is still under construction and is expected to be fully functional in Fall/Winter 2007. Nice effort and must say a unique concept.
Besides this, social upliftment message and usage will help a long way. Technology, I love it if used in such way!
