Year 2007 could be the best and most productive year for Blogger. Finally Google took time and revamped lot of things on this blog publishing beauty. Besides celebrating its 8th birthday lot of new things came up. First Blogger Beta finally become ‘Blogger’ and old blogger was shut down.
Introduction of Custom domains was welcomed by all. It was goodbye to long URL like “Blogname.blogspot.com” and welcome to short & personalised domain names like “www.blogname.com”. Just buy a domain name and set your Blogspot/blogger blog to it. No need to buy hosting space for blog or images.
Then came integration of your blog photos and Picasa Web Album. See all your blog photos at one place at Picasa Web Album. Also came option to buy more storage space for your blog images via Picasa. Other features that came your way were:
- Hindi transliteration to blog in Hindi.
- New Widgets like, Videobar, Newsreel, Polls,Google Gadgets etc.
- Autosave feature while writing posts in Blogger.
- Try New Features before release at Blogger in Draft.
- Better Management & redirect of feeds of your blog.
- Blogger play to check out some cool images on Blogger.
Even though I do not use Blogger now but whatever I have learnt about pulishing a blog… credit goes to Blogger. Wordpress is surely better in terms of cutomization but for a newbie Blogger should be the starting point. Even I started out with Blogger and later moved on to Wordpress.
