Hide webpage preview magnify button on Google Search

By default, Google Search results show magnify button next to each search result. Click on that magnify icon show visual screenshot preview of that search result webpage on Google Search. Majority of users do not bother to click magnify icon to view image preview of webpage listed on search results. If you do not use that feature, you can easily get rid of magnify icon from Google Search results webpage.

Remove magnify icon to disable page preview on Google

You can implement this in Google Chrome browser using “Hide Google Instant Preview” extension. Note: this webpage preview options is different from Prerendering Instant pages (which is specific to Google Chrome and not Google Search website).

1. Launch Google Chrome browser and open Hide Google Instant Preview Chrome extension download page. Click add to chrome to install this extension for Google Chrome browser on your computer.

2. Once installed, open Google Search website (google.com) and search for any keyword. You should not see magnify icon (or button) on Google Search result webpage now.

If you do not use this webpage screenshot preview feature, above routine for sure makes overall Google Search results pages neater without magnify icon next to every weblink listing. Incase you want magnify icon back on Google Search, just uninstall and remove Hide Google Instant Preview extension. This will restore magnify button for visual preview of weblinks on search result pages.
