Well, Google is celebrating world’s first artificial satellite ‘Sputnik’. It had size of a beach ball (58 cm.or 22.8 in.), weighed only 83.6 kg. or 183.9 pounds, and about 98 minutes to orbit the Earth on its elliptical path.
It was launched exactly 50 years ago on October 4, 1957. It’s lauch created politcal furror and United State responded with launch of Explorer-I on January 31, 1958. Sputnik ultimately led to creation of NASA. via
Hmmm… pure nostalgia. Sputnik surely is deserving candidate to be on Google homepage!
