How to duplicate & copy Google Docs file?

ADVERTISEMENTS

Say you received a Google Docs file and you want to edit that file but don’t have permission to do so. Here is quick and easy way to make copy of that file and make any changes you want to that Google Docs file.

Just change the original Google Docs URL from-to:

  • http://docs.google.com/DocAction?action=copy&docid=AAAAA

Above AAAA is a document ID and effectively one needs to replace View? with DocAction?action=copy& You can test drive this on a sample Google Docs file. After you change the URL as shown above, you will get button to save and share the document at the top right part of the screen.

GOS Blog has even created a script to get ‘copy to my account’ link on Google Docs file you open. This script with work in Firefox with greasemonkey and in Internet Explorer with IE7Pro installed.
