Save & edit Office 2010 files as PDF or XPS

ADVERTISEMENTS

Microsoft Office 2010 has default support for saving files in PDF or XPS format. Previously, we had to install save as XPS addon for option to save files in XPS format in Office 2007 or use free Microsoft XPS viewer software. However, in MS Office 2010 you can save file as XPS or PDF format in any program application in few simple clicks.

Save Office 2010 files as PDF / XPS

1. Open any file in Office 2010 program.

2. Goto File > Save As and enter name of the file in ‘File Name’ box.

3. In the Save as type list, click PDF (.pdf) or XPS Document (.xps).

4. Click Save button for final saving of file in PDF / XPS format. This feature is available in Access, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher, Visio and Word programs included in Office 2010 suite.

Edit PDF / XPS files in Office 2010

You cannot open and edit files saved in PDF or XPS format. Instead, you need to open original Office file (like Word, Excel) in respective Office program. Then edit file for required changes and save edited file as PDF / XPS using procedure explained above.

Alternatively, you can use Adobe Acrobat or any other software for editing PDF files since direct editing of PDF / XPS files in not supported in Office 2010.
