Latest release of Windows family – Windows 7 operating system will not have in-built support to open 32 bit Help Files (with .hlp file extension). Microsoft has discontinued Windows Help program as it did not have a major update for many releases and no longer meets Microsoft standards. So, how do you open Help files in Windows 7?

Majority of software applications still come with .hlp format help files. Hence, Microsoft has released separate application for Window 7 users to open Help (.hlp) files. Just install Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) program to open and view help files on Windows 7 operating system. Download WinHlp32 program (Note: Only for Windows 7)
