Are you receiving tons of spam emails? Well, did you publish your email address on any webpage? If your answer is YES, then probably you will continue to get more and more spam emails. However there are ways which can help in stopping or reducing the spam you receive at a particular email address.

Whenever you publish your email ID on any webpage, ‘@’ character is the search target of number of spam bots roaming the web space. So if we eliminate ‘@’ character from email address some protection can be achieved and this brings to our first method in preventing an Email ID getting spammed. Here goes….

1. Remove ‘@’ character from Email address - Instead of publishing an email address [yourname@website.com], you can publish email address as: [yourname(at)website.com] or [yourname(at)website(dot)com]

2. Using Email Encoder - You can use email encoder to transforming your ascii email address into its equivalent decimal entity. So instead of typing: [yourname@website.com], type the encoded form as: yourname@website.com

When above encoded form is published, in front-end it will still appear as [yourname(at)website.com], however bots will see it in encoded form as above. You can use Online Email Address Encoder for this purpose.

3. Show Email ID as an Image - Another way effective alternative is showing email ID in the form of an image. You do not need to photoshop expert to create Email ID button. There are number of Email ID to Image generators.

Above techniques should help in minimizing your Email ID exposure to less capable automated email harvesters. However, some high end software can still sniff out your email ID/address.

To avoid at being receiving end of spam emails, excercise caution while sharing or publishing your Email ID. Above alternatives are worth trying out: they are simple, quick and easy. What say?
